Google Drive Recommendation

As per your inquiry into the tech tool Google Drive, I have spent the last few weeks trying out different functionalities within the tool to see how feasible it would be to implement within our group. While we currently use our shared drives on the company’s network, we are well aware of the connectivity issues we run into when the servers are down or when we cannot connect wireless from home or even in the office. Google Drive would be a nice alternative to storing things on our hard drive and would be similar a virtual “thumb drive”.  Right now Google will house 15GB for free across Google Drive,  Google+ photos, and Gmail.  Due to the large size of our PowerPoint and picture files, I do not see this being a sustainable model for even past 6-9 months as our only source to house our data. It will work as a great back up for our group.

Google Drive currently has a shared and editable version of word, excel, and powerpoint. The ability to multi-edit in a cloud function is one of the key nice features of Google Drive. Recently some of our clients have sent some of their reports to us via Google Drive as a way to not clog up our email space, which indicates that more businesses will be moving to more cloud technology applications in the future.

For the time being, I recommend using Google Drive for some of our basic functions like excel budgets, standard marketing templates, and basic contact data to get a feel for using Google Drive on a daily basis. Let's regroup in 3 months to align on how we want to incorporate and implement Google Drive in the future.
